The SC SOPHE Board is pleased to announce that Ms. Lana Clay of Placentia, CA is the recipient of the 2014 Student Recognition Award.
Ms. Clay earned a BS from California State Polytechnic University – Pomona and an MS in Health Science from Western University of Health Sciences, and is currently continuing her public health studies at Harvard University. In her application, she demonstrated her extensive experience, commitment to the public health field, and passion for public health and community health education. Ms. Clay has volunteered hundreds of hours in various capacities for oncological pediatric groups in Orange County. She is doing very well academically, and has received multiple awards for her academic achievements and community service, including the prestigious Randall Lewis Health Policy Fellowship. Her overall professional goals are to contribute to the development of pediatric oncological not for profit organizations and to conduct research to eradicate cancer.
Southern California SOPHE is proud to announce Ms. Clay as the recipient of our local chapter’s award and we have nominated her for the national SOPHE Student Recognition Award, which will provide the winner with a travel stipend to attend the 2015 national SOPHE conference. Ms. Clay intends to use the funds from the local award to defray the cost of the April 2015 CHES exam. We wish her the best of luck!
